The Laurie M. Wood Research Travel Award
The Society for French Historical Studies and the Western Society for French History offer an annual award for research conducted outside North America on any aspect of the history of France. This award is granted to an outstanding American or Canadian scholar who has received the doctorate in history in the five-year period prior to the award (since January 2015 for the 2020 award).

Marjorie M. and Lancelot L. Farrar Memorial Awards
The Society for French Historical Studies offers The Marjorie M. and Lancelot L. Farrar Awards to support two outstanding in-progress dissertation projects on any period of French history by students enrolled in a doctoral program at a university in the United States or Canada.

Natalie Zemon Davis Graduate Student Award
The Society for French Historical Studies confers the Natalie Zemon Davis (November 8, 1928-October 21, 2023) Award for the best paper presented at the annual meeting by a graduate student enrolled in a doctoral program in the United States or Canada.

The Institut Français d’Amérique Fund Research Fellowships
The Society for French Historical Studies offers two research fellowships for maintenance during research in France for a period of at least one month. These research fellowships are supported by "The Institut Français d’Amérique Fund" of the SFHS.

John B. and Theta H. Wolf Travel Fellowship
The John B. and Theta H. Wolf Travel Fellowship was awarded to a doctoral student at a university in the United States or Canada for dissertation research in any period of French history that reflected the Wolfs' interest in and contributions to the study of European history. The award was formerly administered jointly by the Society for French Historical Studies and the Western Society for French History.
